Re: Racing Capri's - photo thread
Another Capri that raced in NZ was the RS2600 that Norris Miles ran for a while. Anyone know what happened to it ? Not sure if anyone has provided an update on this. The RS2600 was not an original car but built as a replica...in much the same way dad built his. Initially dad and Terry Holtham were ...

Re: Article: Holiday Snaps - Part 2
The information plaque for each vehicle tends to discuss the make and model, rather than the actual chassis. Therefore, I assume this to not be the actual 1991 race winner (the first and only Japanese car to win outright), but rather a sister car or factory replica. Hi ...

Re: What's the answer?
This is a discussion that needs to be had. I acknowledge that my ideas are but a mere dream and I honestly don`t see a lot changing in my life time. I will go and watch dad race but these days I live at the countries speedway tracks...a good number of classes and you generally know what you are in ...

Re: What's the answer?
Hi rf84 You raise an interesting point regarding the number of circuits. Where would we be if they had not of built Hampton Downs? Using Pukekohe more than we now appear to? Would we therefore have the choice of meetings that we now do? Have we created our own problems we now face? I entirely agree ...

Re: What's the answer?
Further to your last post Ray...I have no desire to see speed groups at these meets (fine if promoters want to do this at their standalone meets) but at HRC meets lets stick to actual race classes and combine where suitable if low entries dictate. I also believe that each class will only ever be as ...

Re: What's the answer?
Hi Ray I have edited Pre 65 from Modern to Classic. The BMW Series is a strange one but I will leave it with Classic in this instance. Personally I have no problem with more modern cars creeping into ERC and Trofeo...but as classes I would still include them into Classic as this where the origins of ...

Re: What's the answer?
Hi Bruce I left out Central as they are a law unto themselves and appear to enjoy appearing at the large standalone events and some Speedworks events. Northern and Production are Auckland Car Club so are not included in my list for HRC. I agree with Ray that 4 tracks is more than enough but I really ...

Re: What's the answer?
You raise some great points Allan on a subject that keeps me awake at night I really am joking but I do ponder this from time to time. Over the summer we have 4 entities running events on the 4 North Island circuits...Speedworks, HRC, Auckland Car Club and the Independent Race Series. We then also ...

Re: Just A Mix Of Pics - Ray Green Collection
Taken from Wikkipedia- Mount Panorama began as a dirt-track/tourist-drive carved out of the bald hills around the bustling city of Bathurst in the mid 1930s. The Council of the time, specifically Mayor Martin Griffin, had a vision for a premier motor racing circuit with the sharp hills, hairpin ...

Re: Just A Mix Of Pics - Ray Green Collection
Where were all the Heritage Touring Cars from Australia? What would that have cost? Jim Barclay may well have succeeded where Tony Quinn failed. And what about display laps? There are cars out there that would be ideal candidates. They might not be racing but they invoke memories and those memories ...

Re: Just A Mix Of Pics - Ray Green Collection
Without trying to hijack Rays` thread too much...the Bathurst Festival was crap! Very little effort invested I felt. My dream would be a Touring Car themed event with separate grids for Group C, Group A and Super Touring. There are a number of groups world wide that could be contacted to sound out ...

Re: Historic Sport Sedans
The trick for all these groups is how to achieve consistent appearances from those competitors that state they will support the various race groups...I bet all groups have been let down in this respect. Oh well...roll on Manfeild.

Re: Historic Sport Sedans
You are correct Anthony. It is where the divisions of the groups are and that HMC/HSC have set regulations to maintain a standard. HSC is more historically correct than HMC. HMC incorporates some parts that are modern but are still in the same theme as what they were in period but are more reliable ...

Re: Historic Sport Sedans
I am not sure what the real issue is here. Possibly the use of the word `historic`? How many genuine cars do we have in HMC and HSC...maybe a similar number to what HSS has? The simple truth is a significant number of cars in HMC and HSC are cars built to the regulations that were in use at the time ...

Re: Historic Sport Sedans
The racing is not so important...seeing these cars out there is what counts. They have the Heritage Hot Lap sessions at Muscle Car Masters and we could seriously adopt that concept here. The cars might be travelling at 70 - 80% of their potential but everyone gets to enjoy the spectacle and memories ...

Re: Historic Sport Sedans
Anthony-Tony Antonievich has entered the Custom Card Camaro and will be racing it in HSS. One day racing is easier on peoples plans, it means there is another day to get things done in the weekend. Also a simple test race day to get things right for MG at Manfield next month. We are very grateful ...

Thanks Bruce302 for replying. Do you plan to race the car once finished?

Re: Historic Sport Sedans
Hi John
Is the Custom Card Camaro the car entered by Tony Antonievich?
Also is the Coppins Firebird racing as I don`t see it on the entry list?
Overall the entries are quite healthy which suggests there is much merit in these 1 day events.
Roll on Saturday.

Re: Fire - what we all fear the most
Donkeys years ago when I took my Fireman's badge in senior scouts at a fire station (a great course by the way; I learned and remembered a lot) as I understood it then, there was a system by which the nearest station would indeed cover the next along the system, by sending an appliance over as soon ...

Re: Fire - what we all fear the most
Not just in rural areas are you exposed We know a bloke who has a flat he rents out in Devonport The tenant managed to set the joint alight one evening You can see the Devonport fire station from the address, but the firetruck and gloryboys that attended came from Birkenhead ! One can imagine the ...
