Re: NZ Castrol GTX Racing in the 70's

Here's a couple of pics of Bill's first HT 350, (prior to the Daytona Bronze example) pictured at Levin, 1970? or 71?. Myself and brother Ian on the right. (Photo at top is a projected slide I photographed with my phone hence the rippled stripe) Hi Alan Nice pictures of the HT. Do you have any ...

Re: NZ Castrol GTX Racing in the 70's

Thanks John
I see what you mean sounds like a big job
will leave it for a while i am at the other end of the country.
The long term plan is to repaint the Monaro Daytona Bronze and display it with pictures of it racing.
Will have to save up some money first.

Re: Team Cambridge Monaro

I was lucky buying mine when the market was very low, about 3 years then it will be paid off. Great if you can find some hustler wheels. They would have to be 7 inch wide to fit inside the rear guards. Unless I take off the tramp rods then I could go wider,

Re: Team Cambridge Monaro

Thanks Mark, I have already replaced the U-Bolts with 8.8 Grade Nuts & Bolts.
I will have to check the welds and see how they are. The Monaro has only covered 135K Miles so hopefully its ok.
But Bill Minty did a bit of racing in the Monaro so I better be careful.

Re: Team Cambridge Monaro

I am working the next 2 weekends. Not a bad investment if I can get The Monaro to double in value every 2 years. Looks like I will have to fit a Muncie as the Saginaw is making bad noises in First gear.

Re: Team Cambridge Monaro

Hi John, A quick question for you. I have reset the rear leaf springs and put in new bushes on my HT Monaro. The leaf springs are held on with long U bolts , when I check the manual short nuts and bolts are used instead. I am guessing a previous owner had lowered the car so used the U bolts, there ...

Hustler wheels Wanted

Does anyone out there know where I can a set of Hustler wheels. Would need to be Holden HT stud patten, 14X7 inch any wider and they will rub on the guards. I could remove the Tramp rods then I could fit a wider wheel but I think it would be very hard to find a hustler wheel with the right offset. I ...

Re: Help! Neville Crichton's HQ 350 Coupe Race Car Lives On! (The Green One Anyway!)

Hey Daryn, I know the feeling. There is a lot of information on this site and helpful people. I discovered my 350 Monaro had been raced in the Castrol GTX Production Car Series, I knew it has some racing history when I bought it, But found a lot more information on this site and confirmed it was a ...

Re: Help Required: 1969 HT Monaro GTS350 Race Car

The door locks on the Monaro don't always work, So I have bought new ones, With the GMH import history that John got for me it gave me the Key Lock numbers and the same number is stamped on some of the locking parts.
I am amazed at how many things you can check to confirm a original Monaro.

Re: Team Cambridge Monaro

I would have thought with the work put into the Monaro Bill would have raced it for longer. Did you find any information on Denis Hamill who bought the Monaro from Bill Minty?.
Trade me is a good place to buy Monaro parts. I have bought a few Monaro parts here including a mint condition Bonnet.

Re: Help Required: 1969 HT Monaro GTS350 Race Car

Hi there
I have searched this site and Denis Hamill's name does appear on this site a few times, He did own this Monaro after Bill Minty sold it,
Looks like Denis raced Saloon Cars.
Does anyone know if Denis raced the Monaro in the or just drove it in the 9 months he owned it.

Hi John, Thanks for the information, I may have the answer, On the ownership papers it appears Bill Minty has sold the Monaro. The change of ownership date is 12 March 1972. The new owner was Denis Hamill from Paratoetoe, He owned the monaro for 6 months Would be good to know if this guy raced the ...

Re: Holden Monaro

John- hopefully you can find some more race history. Check out my Monaro fuel tank it has a big patch cut out of it. I am guessing something was fitted there to speed up the rufueling when racing. It takes ages to full that tank at the petrol station and also cost a lot of money. [ATTACH]21025 ...
