Re: Pete Geoghegans Craven Mild Monaro

This car is coming up for auction early next year (I have no connection). It looks fairly complete but to the best of my knowledge it hasn't been run on track. It is being auctioned by Burns and Co.

Here's a link to info on the one that came to Australia for Jim Smith to race. You will need to register with Shannons to read the full article....

Re: Peter Brock's retirement from Bathurst, 1974

Someone once said given the choice between a stuff-up and a conspiracy go for the stuff-up every time. Why not put this 'theory' to Ian Tate now. He is still very accessible and I'm sure his reply would be worth reading. As an aside, he would actually be a great subject for a biography in his own ...

I recently saw a photo of it and it appeared close to being finished - fully painted and sporting the original wheels. I'll see if I can find a link and post it.

And cordials... Actually, they were better known for the cordials than the soft drinks. You can still get their cordials, but not soft drinks. There are also jelly crystals, jams etc. Apparently it all started with 'Passiona', which was based on passionfruit, I wonder if that's what Graham is ...

Re: Video Of The Day: Allan Moffat US Testing In 1974

Thanks Terry. I'm just trying to remember what car this was. Was it Fred Gibson's XA GT from 1973? I seem to recall Moffat wrecked his XA and so Ford gifted him the Gibson car when they withdrew from racing (as they kept on doing). According to Australian Muscle Car, issue 28, your memory is right ...

Re: Mazda MX5, Mazda Miata, Eunos Roadster

Greeting from west of the Tasman. Here's my current NA6. Very standard apart from the wheels. It is relatively low mileage with just over 160,000km from new. I bought it late last year in Cairns, QLD and drove it back to the outskirts of Melbourne, VIC, a distance of approx 3,200km. On that trip, I ...

I think you'll find they are early Simmons racing wheels, Steve. They were used on a lot of smaller Aussie tin-tops during the 70's.

Re: Just A Mix Of Pics - Ray Green Collection

I visited the Petersen museum about 4 weeks ago (thanks to a 24 hour flight delay) and did the vault tour. The main reasons photos are banned related to security, including the fact that many of the cars in that area do not belong to the museum. Even though the tour went for 2 hours, at least half ...

To paraphrase an old advertising campaign, would it be fair to say 'Body by Giugiaro, Soul by Bizzarrini' ?

There should be plenty of info about, Ken. It was only restored relatively recently and featured in all the major Oz motor magazines at that time... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iezc14zdYCM http://www.caradvice.com.au/142208/1969-holden-hurricane-restored-holdens-first-concept-car/

Inded it is, but I think Ray was saying that Peter later won the ASCC in a lovely Elfin 350........

Re: 1979 Hardie-Ferodo 1000 Bathurst

LOVE these images! Interesting to see the two Camaros that made their Bathurst debuts in 1979. Others will know better than me, but were they given special dispensation to do this event? Not special dispensation, but they were hamstrung by having to use drum brakes on the rear, despite coming from ...
