Re: 1972 Tasman Series Programmes

Steve, these couple of programme listings may help. February 6, 1972 Surfers Paradise Tasman Championship Rd 5 "22 Crown Lynn (Graham McRae) Leda GM1 5000 NZ" February 13, 1972 Warwick Farm Tasman Championship Rd 6 "22 Grid International (NZ) Ltd (Graham McRae) (UK) Leda GM1-Chev V8 4998 Red" Stephen

Re: Video Of The Day: Long Weekend At Longford

It's true Ken. It was there in 2005 and so was the stone marker originally placed at the crash scene. There's a house there now (well for probably more than 40 years at a guess).

Re: Stirling Moss Cooper T53

Not NZ or Oz, but British soil. Links to a couple of great period Aintree photos of the RRC Walker Moss Cooper. This Brian Tregilgas photo is a ripper paddock shot at the 1961 200 meeting with Alf Francis and Mal Simpson https://www.flickr.com/photos/95855909@N02/12409279593/ John Williams was there ...

Re: Stirling Moss Cooper T53

Steve, good to read Dave & Nick are keeping an eye on things. Also thanks for confirming the car came from the Valdez estate. Do you happen to know when please? Simply for my records. What follows is the March 1962 Racing Car News. Very hard to find and not a suitable printed format for my scanner ...

Re: Stirling Moss Cooper T53

The Warwick Farm photo of Moss passing Brabham's stranded Cooper is also published (although cropped) in the 1964 Bill Tuckey 'The book of Australian Motor Racing' Here's another Aussie mag cover with Moss in the Cooper at WF. https://s25.postimg.org/5feuaag2n/1962_Autosportsman_TRS.jpg Stephen

Re: Stirling Moss Cooper T53

Here's another item that has relevance to this https://s25.postimg.org/7bxbq5qrj/1962_AMS_Moss_cover.jpg This issue also covers the Lakeside and Sandown Internationals, not that Stirling was at the Queensland event and his Sandown efforts concentrated on the Lotus. Being a kiwi based forum it's also ...

Re: Stirling Moss Cooper T53

Steve, That would be great if you can confirm it's previous owner/whereabouts and when it was acquired would be good too please. David and Nick would be wise to have a scratch around autopics website. I was on there today and found a colour shot from Adrien Schagen's collection. Link http://autopics ...

Re: Stirling Moss Cooper T53

Nice work Milan. I'd still like to have confirmed if possible whether this car came out of the Valdez estate please? What follows is the 1962 Warwick Farm International cover and a cut and paste of the entry list. https://s25.postimg.org/hxzklbdtb/1962_WF_International_trs.jpg Event 5 International ...

Stirling Moss Cooper T53

I'm assuming Nick Topliss has recently acquired this car from the Valdez estate in the US? I know that this car was in the Lukey museum at Phillip Island in 1981. The catalogue for the venue has the car shown twice. At that point the ownership was attributed to Ray Gibbs. He worked for Cooper in the ...

Re: ferrari 275 gtb barchtta #07307

In original form this car doesn't have the greatest of history. I remember around 1988/89 the vice-president of the Mini Club I was involved with here in Melbourne, worked on this car for Bill and navigated in road rallies. Despite being a Mini enthusiast he was an Italian car specialist. You'll ...

Re: Random photos from the 60s

Great photos Milan. Thank you for showing us. I take it that Bill Stone's Cooper is the ex Denny Hulme T52? If so, that should mean the rear wheels are the original style fitted to the first Cooper Formula Juniors. Would anyone have a date (even approximate) for the Hillclimb the Stone and Boyd ...

Re: Geoghegan & Sons Ashfield - where did they advertise? Tracking a 1963 Alfa Sprint

Geoffrey, it's not an exact science, but the Glass's Dealer Guide 1960 - 68 list the NSW registration plates for 1966 as DZL to EJE prefixes. So EFP certainly fits into the Crott/Geoghegan timeframe. Geoghegan's also advertised in Sports Car World, Racing Car News and various race programmes of the ...

Re: Baypark ; lost tracks - Australian Muscle Car issue 83

Roger, if all it is a cut and paste effort, then their card needs to be marked 'Could do better'. So indeed point it out. It is of course another classic scenario whereby once something goes into print then other facts emerge. And not that I wish to sound too critical, it could also be put down to ...

Re: Baypark ; lost tracks - Australian Muscle Car issue 83

Terry, issue 72 from Feb 14 is the beginning of the 6 week cycle. I didn't notice immediately, but by early June 14 issue 74 was out and I realised something was going on. I don't know officially but I suspect that monthly Muscle Car Enthuiast magazine must have thrown up some competition. I think ...

Re: Baypark ; lost tracks - Australian Muscle Car issue 83

From what I have noticed, quite a few of AMC Sacred Sites features have the advantage of relying heavily on features written years earlier for the now defunct 'Motor Racing Australia' magazine published by Chevron Publishing also. Certainly worth contacting Luke West via his [email protected] ...
