The original Munch Mamut motorbikes used an NSU engine - up to a 1300 I think. Huge for the time, now, not so much...

I had that slot car body, dropped on a home made sidewinder chassis - think I bought it from Martins. My paint job was even worse!

Sunbeam Alpine - now with 1600cc engine! An acquaintance of dad's in Albany on the North Shore had an Alpine, which he'd fitted with an MGB motor. Reckoned it went OK in a straight line. That would be 1962. It did, until he bought a new Lotus Elan in 1963. The first time I saw (and drove) the Elan ...

I was dead keen to see it, as it had been featured in the Harold, so went out to Puke, but he had already binned it. Did it sound OK?

I recall someone saying the reason it crashed was because he didn't provide any proper air outlets for the radiator, so at speed, the pressure built up and tried to tear the nose off......

I had a good nosy at the M6GT one afternoon in Henderson. It was just parked at the side of the road - Lincoln Rd or Te Atatu Rd... Mid 70's. Across the road from the garage.
