Re: HMC Supporters Queensland Trip.

macpac- do what I did, give yourself a race meeting deadline and then ignore family, friends, work, tv, walking the dogs and call in favours. There are 24 hours in the day, 7 days in the week. Brakes one week, front suspension next week, then rear suspension following. Anything just to get the car ...

Re: HMC Supporters Queensland Trip.

All good Steve. I look forward to seeing your car too when it is finished. Thanks Tony. It (Camaro) is going to take longer than I would like unfortunately, but I will be at all of the Trans Am meetings this year and usually hang out with John English and Ian (Woody) Woodward. Track me down at one ...

Re: HMC Supporters Queensland Trip.

Hi macpac-I would love to come over , but am starting restoration of the team Cambridge HK Monaro built by Spinner Black for Rod Coppins to race in 1969. Will put my hand up to come over next year with it. I came over to Aus in 84 to race Transtasman BMX. Everyone was great, still have not lost the ...

Re: HMC Supporters Queensland Trip.

Exactly Steve. I have spoken to mates of mine from Melbourne and NSW and they are going regardless of which track it`s at. What people have realised is NEVER has a group this size of `period correct' big bangers from NZ gone to race in Aussie at the same time. Our cars are more akin to what used to ...

Re: HMC Supporters Queensland Trip.

Fair comments from both Steves but I guess it also comes down to the individuals financial situations and to whether they can afford to attend both meetings. I for one would need to ditch her indoors and the kids to be able to attend both. For some of us, money only stretches so far no matter how ...

Re: Photos: The Ian Peak Collection - Part 1

Visitors to this years Denny Hulme Festival at Hampton Downs would have seen this car at the Historic Muscle Cars display area, the Barry Phillips Lotus Cortina. Actually this is Bruce McLean in his Cortina 1600 ( not a Lotus ) painted Team colours. Normally it would be numbered 87. Very well ...

Re: HMC Supporters Queensland Trip.

Fair enough re what has been organised for you! Makes sense. Personal preference re the tracks I guess. I know of about 20 expats and families that are passing on Willowbank, Trans Tasman or No Trans Tasman yet are all geared up to go to Lakeside to see the same Trans Am/HMC cars run. The extra ...

Re: The 1965 and 1966 Wills 6Hr Race

Your Dad and Barry Phillips drove a Ford Zephyr (No 32) in the 1965 Wills 6-Hour. From what I wrote in my programme it would appear they qualified seventh fastest. I can find only one mention of the car in the Motorman report and that states: Barry Phillips (Zephyr) and Graham Lucas (Peugeot 403 ...

Re: Rod Coppins

Hi Steve, I am planning on taking my HMC Camaro, along with a few other grey haired hoons and their HMC cars, to run at Lakeside and Queensland Raceway in June and July. Barry met back up with Jim Richards at the Denny Hulme Festival after 30 years, and Jim will be at the Shannons meeting we`ll be ...

Rod and my dad were good mates as well as competing against each other. Every time I think of Rod and all of the race meetings I was taken to by dad, I remember Jandals was always there as large as life.

He most definitely is, I spent about an hour talking to him at the Denny Hulme Festival a couple of weeks ago. Thanks fullnoise.
