Re: Red Dawson's DeKon Chevy Monza 1001
I trust this won't upset too many people. Following a full examination of the Monza with Lee Dykstra and other members of the consortium, it has been decided to restore #1001 back to its first iteration as the car was presented at the 1975 August Road Altanta IMSA race, Horst Kwech driving ...

Thats it Steve, there was a race, I will check its either Wigram or Teretonga where Rothmans tried to prevent Red competing, British American Tobacco being the parent of Rothmans and Peter Stuyvesant amongst other brands. Re: Help Required: 1969 HT Monaro GTS350 Race Car
Hi Steve, Bill Minty is my uncle and still lives in Auckland. I have fond memories of cruising in DM 1713 as a young lad and being ferried to the race track in the car. Baypark and Levin both come to mind. Bill raced this and earlier another HT 350 coloured Verdoro? Green. Prior to the 350's he ...

Re: Red Dawson's DeKon Chevy Monza 1001
Speaking with Jim Richards, he has a recollection that Bill Minty was the guy looking after the Monza and did the rebuild. Does anyone know the whereabouts of Bill Minty?

Re: Horst Kwech
As Porsche was dominating the IMSA Camel series in 1974 Chevrolet came up with a proposal IMSA to provide domestic (USA) competition with their V8 Chevy Monza's. Horst Kwech and Lee Dykstra formed a company together called DeKon Engineering in July 1974.. The D was from Dykstra and the K was from ...

Re: Red Dawson's DeKon Chevy Monza 1001
Hi Bailey. Over the last 10 years I have fully researched this car (and most IMSA Monza's) and feel qualified to comment on the DeKon chassis'. I have contributed too, and had much information supplied by the owners of 1002, 1004 and 1005 Dekon's with reference photo's and the like regarding these ...
