Re: Limited Edition Art Prints For Sale

Hi Steve Nice art work on these amazing cars. Must admit, I wasn't aware that you were an artist as well as a writer. They remind me of the work of Martin de Lange, who like you tried to capture the essence of these wonderful vehicles and the men who drove them. Although his images were produced in ...

Re: Geoghegan Family Cortina In New Zealand

Hi Terry Thanks for filling in an important fact that had me puzzled. I was aware that Barry Seton raced the car - based on race reports which indicated that both the Geoghegan GT Cortina and the Lotus Cortina raced in the same event, with Seton in the Lotus - but was not aware that he owned it at ...

Re: Geoghegan Family Cortina In New Zealand

I believe that Graham and Trevor were both aware of the Lakeside rollover, but not the Lowood one. Trevor probably didn't think it was worth mentioning, when he was interviewed for the Lotus Club article.

Re: Geoghegan Family Cortina In New Zealand

This is the car I am researching and the car that raced at the NZGP event in 1965. The car was bought from the Geoghegans by a Queensland amateur racer, by the name of Frank Melit - who was quite a handy driver and raced it for a short time, with some local success. Unfortunately, he also rolled the ...

Re: Geoghegan Family Cortina In New Zealand

Thank you Milan, for confirming a missing part of the Geoghegan Lotus Cortina's racing history. It is only due to forums such as these, that are frequented by a large number of highly knowledgeable and passionate, motor racing enthusiasts, that information such as this is brought to life. And it all ...

Re: Goodwood Revival Photo Project

Hi guys Thanks for the positive feedback... and don't worry, more are coming!!! Just so you know, the first image was from 2008 and taken with a Nikon D200. The next image comes from 2004 (when it all began) and was shot with a Nikon D70. If you are wondering why I am mentioning this, its because ...

Goodwood Revival Photo Project

Decided recently that I needed to go through my old Goodwood Revival photos (2004-2008) as a bit of a personal project and put together a book of images. I thought it would be a great opportunity to not only do something worthwhile with my images, but also relive that wonderful time in the UK ...

Re: Limited Edition Art Prints For Sale

Hi Steve Prints look good. As your name is on them, am I correct in assuming you painted the originals??? Are they all mono, as shown or were they originally painted in colour??? Must admit, they have a similar look and feel to the work of Martin de Lange, another automotive artist over here, who ...

Shadow Can-Am

I know it was quite awhile ago, but there was a thread on Can-Am cars where the Shadow AVS MkI Chevrolet was mentioned. I knew I had a photo of it somewhere, but couldn't find it at the time. As is usually the case, whilst searching for something else, I came across the Shadow photo taken at the ...

Although not a Youtube video... I think it still fits

Thought other members might like this... if they haven't seen it before. An amazing piece of footage of Mike Hawthorn doing a lap of Le Mans in 1956 in a D Type Jaguar. It's incredible to see the bikes and traffic out on the track, and an almost total lack of safety, bearing in mind the previous ...

Here are a couple of photos of the Bob Tweedie Sprint at Silverstone in 2005, not long after it had arrived in the UK.

As for Martin White's Sprint, I will post some images soon.

Re: Photos: The Bill Pottinger Collection - Part 1

These images are superb and I can only say it is a great shame that Bill didn't continue on with his motor sport photography, as he had a great eye for the subject matter and would have had quite a successful career IMO. I particularly like the shots of the drivers, as these types of photos are few ...

I know where their Black Lotus Cortina is... but not allowed to say just yet. Its a genuine Lotus 'A' arm model and definitely not a converted GT. It will be stunning when completed!!! :-)

Re: Goodwood Revival 2004

Hi Steve

As GeeBeeNZ has indicated, this is Jack Brabhams original Speedcar... the one he used to win the Australian Speedcar Championship... and just to prove it, here they both are on the cover of a Speedway Royal programme from 1950. Enjoy!!! :)
