Re: HMC Build Thread: 70 Mustang PDL Replica

Man, you do some sweet work Dale. Time to get your own TV show and show how you do this work...and I gather that you do it all yourself. That would be the "hook" for interest. I was going to make some smart-a$$ comment about how you dropped the nose two inches on the repair and how trick the new ...

Re: Scottsdale Auctions

Hi Doug, thanks for this. Who owns the two Hot Wheels team cars? Is is Don Prudhomme? I have a hot rod magazine from a couple of years ago in which the Snake tracked down and restored one of his old funnycars plus his transporter. Not sure if this is the same car though? Don't know if Don Prudhomme ...

Scottsdale Auctions

Fun time to be in Scottsdale Arizona. Several auctions going on this week. The biggie here is the Barrett-Jackson event. Very extensive collection of cars of every genre. Think the big race related lot is the drag cars of Don Prudhomme and Tom McEwen...the Snake and the Mongoose. These are the Hot ...

Book on Trans-Am Cars

David Tom has a new book out called "The Cars of Trans-Am Racing 1966-1972." A few comments on Moffet racing sedans in the US. I got to write a little tribute to Warren Tope, a Ford back door privateer that ran a Boss 302 in national races and some Trans-Am races. Anyway, just thought I would ...

Re: HMC Build Thread: 70 Mustang PDL Replica

Car does look great! Cage looks superb. One thing that I noticed on the old race car is that there was no exhaust coming out the side. And on your car I see a set of mufflers under the car. One thing you may consider is cutting out the floor on the passenger side and making room to tuck two pipes up ...

Re: Car Auctions in Scottsdale

Hello Guys and Gals. Well Barrett Jackson is well underway now. I went there on Tuesday to review the cars that were coming across the block this week. Not too many race cars. I understand that the Boss 302 cars will start selling today. They good muscle cars from the late 60s and early 70s usually ...

Re: Car Auctions in Scottsdale

Hello to all, Sorry it took a few days to get back to the site. Did get a kick out of the pics that Dale posted for me! Thanks Dale. On the Watkins Glen picture....this is one that I have never seen. Thanks for posting it Steve. Dale mentioned some components that are lacking from the car. When I ...

Re: Car Auctions in Scottsdale

So sorry, I thought "a pint" was a colloguial expression for "drink until you drop." Maybe it should be "drink until you are just below the legal limit for driving"....who knows what that is (I expect only those that have had a problem with the limit!)...I expect it is only a pint or two! Hope to ...

Car Auctions in Scottsdale

Hi Guys and Gals, I live in Scottsdale, Arizona and look forward to attending some of several of the car auctions here in the coming months. These include Barrett Jackson and Russo and Steele, among others. If any of you are coming to town perhaps we can meet for a pint or two. The weather here is ...

Heading out to Coronado for the Weekend

Back in Arizona after spending a lot of time in Michigan. Haven't accessed this site in months. Thought I would just ask if anyone reading this will be in Coronado ( San Diego CA) this weekend. If so, I would like to meet you and say hello. I will be with Jim Lange, a former racer and Shelby GT 350 ...

Re: Checking in from Phoenix, Arizona, USA

Hi Steve, Cutting the seat frame support was to reduce the weight. Redistribution of weight was a big deal for us. We would cut, cut, cut. And then we would it put it back where we wanted it. Someday I will tell you about how we filled the rear bumper with lead. Funny story. Yes, Warren did do a few ...

Re: Checking in from Phoenix, Arizona, USA

Hi Steve, Yup the car that Drew has is the car that I worked on with Warren. Drew and I had a nice talk one day at a race that he sponsored at Phoenix International Raceway. It was an SCCA race and he also provided a great lunch to the drivers and crews at the event. Sit down and white table cloths ...

Checking in from Phoenix, Arizona, USA

Hard to introduce myself without going overboard! Anyway, Trans-Am Series fan going back to late 60's. Crewed for Warren Tope until summer of 70. Capacity: "gopher" mostly. After I got some money together I built a Mustang vintage race car and ran it in various events for about five active years ...
