Re: New Zealand Historic Saloon Cars Under HRC
Here I am again -- it has been a while since I posted on a web forum -- I used to very active on many web forums (mainly Datsun S30 aka 240z/260z related, I have owned over 11 Datsun's over 30+ years (mostly S30 aka 240z/260z and never a 2+2 only 2 seaters)) So I have been a Zed man for many of ...

Re: This is getting ridiculous
Right I worked out why we have to have flame proof underwear. If we have to install halo seats in the future for head restraint compliance in a number of cars those with small interiors aka Datsun 240z, MG, Mini and Lotus if you make a halo seat fit then you can't get in and out easily. So if your ...

Re: This is getting ridiculous
So does all this work for 2kcup guys or lemons where the whole idea is to keep the cheque book racing away and attract new drivers. 2k for a car. The 5k for safety gear to see if you like the sport in the first place. Sure motorsport is not cheap we all get that. Yes safety is important and comes at ...

Re: This is getting ridiculous
Right so now I have to: 1. Fix the car for the coming season (engine issues after last season) 2. Purchase flame proof underwear 3. Have my cage modified so my belts are at the now 0-20 for FHR device 4. Get a FHR 5. Get new belts that are 6 point (5 points I have are ok for now...but...) - more ...

Re: Just A Mix Of Pics - Ray Green Collection
Laptop doesn't have the same software as the PC, but shrinking full size images to 950 pixels max and 185kb is a real pain. What software does anyone else use? On the PC, I spend ages on Photoshop, doing one image at a time and can only upload 1 image at a time too. There must be a better way ...

Re: ERC Race Series - Euro Saloons & Sports
Well I do like to follow the rules and as much as I would love to have a Arden alloy head on a mini it will have to be a 5 port for a number of years to come. And iron as the only alloy head I can find that was used in period is the 8 port Arden head. Gerald have you tried the Hoosier historic bias ...

Re: ERC Race Series - Euro Saloons & Sports
All a learning curve given mini's and the A series are new to me. As Ray stated had some issues, water on the garage floor the day the engine first started on Tuesdays night. Then the top (not correct and old) radiator hose let go on day 1. Day 2 the car only managed 3 laps each time due to fuel ...

Re: ERC Race Series - Euro Saloons & Sports
Was have fun this morning learning to drive the mini just before #2 decided it needed to cool down and throw it's self out of the side of the block. Never mind these thing happen with engines in unknown condition. True I don't know how accurate the Rev counter is even if I did not go past 6000. Was ...

Re: ERC Race Series - Euro Saloons & Sports
Robin's Mini Marcos is very nice - I had a quick look over it when I picked up the trailer I purchased from Robin. After I decided not to race a Datsun Zed in the ERC I did think about a Ginetta G15 - a imp powered kitcar from back in the day. But then thought like the Marcos not a lot of race ...

Re: ERC Race Series - Euro Saloons & Sports
Looking forward to running my mini. Have been a Datsun Zed guy for the 20+ years it will be very different to drive on the track with 60% of the weight of a zed and about 60% less power. The reason for the change was simple. This time last year I was out of work and looking at my almost complete ...

Re: ERC Race Series - Euro Saloons & Sports
It has been a long time since I visited this site. ERC you need to change my car from a Datsun 260z to a Morris Cooper S replica given the caged zed is now in Nelson with a new owner.

Re: New Zealand Historic Muscle Cars Under HRC
However, if you have tight rules, then you have to enforce them. And a very good point. If done in period with proof why not. Or even if it could have been done why not (ie V8 rover into a MG Magnette could have been done so why not today?) Having said why not a YB into an Escort? It just needs to ...

Re: New Zealand Historic Muscle Cars Under HRC
I think they got the 5-speed with the 2.8 injected model circa '81. yep that is my understanding too the Mark iii which is like comparing a 66 mustang to a 86 mustang. Sure still a mustang but different chassic, body, specs. However there are some marques of cars that did span a large era with only ...

Re: NZeder's Datsun 260z Build Thread
Long time no update. Well things have moved on some since my last update. 1. I now have both 260z 2 seaters in the shed at home. 2. The fully caged car has been completely rewired by me, still have some minor wiring to complete (gauges, and coil loom and wipers outstanding) 3. With the restructuring ...

Re: New Zealand Historic Muscle Cars Under HRC
Really fully compliant? Are you 100% sure about that? I was under the impression that a Carpi was only ever factory fitted with a 4 speed manual box. Ford (UK) did not introduce a 5speed until 1982 with the release of the Sierra which is post 78 and outside the Mark I Capri production range which is ...

Re: 1972 Fuji Masters Touring Car Race
This one? yes that's the one. Today you will need in order if 200k to prize a genuine GTR from its owner in Japan. Fakes go for over 120k with the correct dohc engine. And L28 power versions between 40k and 70k depending ...

Re: 1972 Fuji Masters Touring Car Race
Now that is the one of the Skylines I would want. Known as the Hakosuka. These are most likely GTR Skylines powered by the 2000cc dohc 4 valve 6 cylinder engines. In 1970 these Skyline took 50 wins from 50 starts putting them in the Japanese records books as one of the ledgends of the tracks in the ...

Re: Ice Breaker Hampton Downs 13-14 Sept 2014
2000cc was common in that era in Japan due to local tax/rego laws. Even the 240z and 260z (shell/chassis that is, it gets complex and you can't compare export specs to home/jdm) only had L20a power aka 2000cc not 2400cc and 2600cc (not actual cc but close enough, or 2800cc for some export markets ...

Re: Ice Breaker Hampton Downs 13-14 Sept 2014
Lastly, who belongs to the beautiful Datsun 240K? I would absolutely love to get that in front of the lens for a shoot, if someone can help me with a contact please flick me a PM. Cheers, Rich It does look good and good on you for ID'ing the car correctly as a Datsun 240k as that is what it is. It ...
