Re: Evan Noyes - Graeme Lawrence - Brabham BT29
Did anyone else use this car in New Zealand after Graeme Lawrence? Two names that spring to mind are Bill David and Peter Hughes. The car was found in bits some years after Lawrence ownership and put back together by Tony Herbert. 1n 1986 David Sharp bought the car engaging Peter Bruin and Geoff ...

Re: 2021 Taupo Historic GP - TV Coverage
Who caught this on CRC Motorsport yesterday? I thought Phil Dark with his one camera guy did an amazing job! Yes it was very well done, so much more interesting than trying to cover the racing, anyone can do that. It was about the Ford personalities and the various ...

Re: Queenstown street races
Do you have the programmes to back this up please? I'm writing a book on road racing motorcycle circuits and really need my info to be spot on. Don't need a programme, I was a member of every organising committee,. Chairman for one year and co-commentator for all meetings. Take it from me, there ...

Re: Queenstown street races
Hi folks, i'm researching motorcycle racing in nz and believe they raced with the cars at queenstown. I have programmes for 1990, 1993 and 1994 none show motorcycles, does anybody have other programmes from queenstown and can tell me which years racing was held there and which years if any bikes ...

Goodwood Revival 2019
Wow! Nick Swift in the Mini Marcos a real ding dong battle with the winning Lotus Elan. A superb second place. Great close racing. My first time at this amazing event. As Autosport magazine says, it has grown to transcend pure motorsport it is simply huge. The many thousands who attended each day ...

Re: Help Needed To ID Photos
I agree! This is brilliant. When Lou Kingsley raced at Teretonga that summer he was put up against a young man called Barry Keen who drove a Triumph Herald coupe. The local newspaper gave great credence to the oldest versus youngest competitor. Barry of course went on the be the Begg "works" driver ...

Shell Motor Racing films
We all grew up enjoying monthly movie nights at our local car clubrooms watching films like the Shell Motor Racing Series, entitled "The History of Motor Racing" I have a set of 6 x 16mm films in their original Shell branded canisters. Their titles are: Part 1. Heroic Days - 1902 Part 2. 1919/25/26 ...

Guy in the hat crouched on the LH side is Hank Rossiter, pretty well known around Christchurch in the day. He was a great help to LRAB during those years and was a fairly handy spanner man to a good number of heroes in the sixties. Not sure who the other one is, have my feelers out!

JacMac is right, it's former MANZ Chief Steward John H Reid. Back in the day he was a racer in the BCM Special and a very fast 1650 Anglia. Looks like AJ McCully on the RH side.

Re: Photos: The Graeme Bennett Collection - Part 2
In my opinion, one of the very best looking of all F5000 cars; the Allan McCully Begg FM5. This car differed to the FM5 run by George Begg for David Oxton, although its most notable difference is the air-box which is significantly taller and narrower. This car now competes regularly in historic ...

Potty???
Ace snapper Bill Pottinger's photos are a highlight of TRS but he has now cracked the big time. Four of his shots feature in the latest issue of 'Motor Sport' - and in the world of classic motor racing, you can't go bigger or better than that. I know people who would be over the moon to have their ...

Re: Photos: The Bill Pottinger Collection - Part 2
Here Jim Clark and Bruce McLaren chat with each other at Teretonga in 1968. I've seen several photos of these two guys chatting and generally looking comfortable around each other. I've also seen podium photos where each looks genuinely happy if the other guy won. I've never given it much thought ...

I remember now, it was 1970 with Derek Bell and it was Tom Wheatcroft as the entrant but the car was a*BT26, the Cosworth blew up, so DNF for Derek.

Brilliant Piers
Piers Courage came to Teretonga in the works BRM P261 V8 in 1967 but spun away his chances at Castrol Bend. He re-appeared in 1968 driving the Saccones Gin liveried McLaren M4A impressing the hell out of all of us*but it was this crazy bi-winged Tom Wheatcroft Brabham BT24 that allowed him to star ...
