Re: Ford Transit Supervan 1

Conrad,I think Mike Endean, X-Trac form Kerikeri still owns one of those Escorts. Its still in the UK.Peter. Interesting!I met Mike at the Hampton Downs festival of speed a year or two ago. Lovely guy who was happy to chat, and surprised to hear he spends half of his year in NZ. He really is a ...

Re: Ford Transit Supervan 1

went to friends place to pick up some parts today. He backed out his German firevan so that we could get at the storage area. Thought it was a good opportunity to snap a couple of pics of an early Mk1 (1969) sitting next to a late Mk2 (1985) They are essentially the same van from the windscreen back ...

Re: 2015 MG Classic At Manfeild

The info board next to this M3 implied it was the original Cecotto/Brancatelli car from the 1987 WTCC. I think Mark Petch might have bought it after the Wellington round, but does anyone know where it's been for the last 25 years? Roger Townshend (of Cologne Capri fame ...

Re: Photos: January 1987 Wellington Street Race

yes I think you are right re Bathurst top speed. Problem was they had to rev the engine to make decent power, and the old Pinto with its spring clips holding the cam followers on just didn't like being revved hard. I spoke to Andrew Bagnall a while ago about the car, but he could not remember who he ...

Re: Photos: January 1987 Wellington Street Race

yes correct, Francevic also drove the ex- Rouse car in 1986.Not sure whwre the pic above was taken, but that is the car. Pretty sure the car ran in NZ for both 1987 Wellington street races, Phil Myhre drove it in the 1987 WTCC race. From there I don't know what happened to the car. Andrew Bagnall ...

Re: Ford Transit Supervan 1

It was built by John Welch, and in conjunction with X-Trac was one of, if not THE first 4WD rallycross cars. Mk3 Escort bodyshell, turbocharged BDA with around 600hp, it was pretty much the template for todays rallycross cars. At the time it would outdrag just about anything in a 0-60 race :)

Re: Photos: January 1987 Wellington Street Race

Hi Steve, not 100% sure, but I think the Miedecke car was the Rouse car that came over for the 1986 race, and retired after Rouse hit the wall on the pit straight. You can see above it is RHD. It was bought by Andrew Bagnall, and run by Mark Petch, with mechanical work by Randall Edgell. Andrew sold ...

Re: Ford Transit Supervan 1

I know a guy that has / had a Transit van, the same model as the Masport one above. This guys' one has a V8 in it, and he uses it as his rally car service van. I serviced crewed for him once at a rally around Tauranga way, going down there with the van chock a block with gear and 4 guys, and the ...

Re: Ford Transit Supervan 1

I saw that too, but what lurks underneath? It has a fairly large capacity fuel injected V6 in it, of undisclosed origin. Goes rather well too Pic from the other side, the Masport van has a 302 in it http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g196/conrod1/misc%20035.jpg http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g196 ...

Youtube can help you on that count Ray: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qg6WdboK1nY (According to the narrator, it's a 5 litre Gurney Weslake V8.) correct, 5 litre Gurney Weslake/ Ford. The whole rear end, engine, transaxle and suspension were taken from a GT40 race car and grafted into the rear of ...

Phillip Island Classic 2014

I could not see a thread here, so thought I would post a few pics from our trip to the Phillip Island Classic held on the 7-9th of March. In our container were 2x BMW M3's, and 2x Formula Fords on the top shelf. Getting four cars into a container certainly helped with the cost of the trip. It was ...

Its okay if it was practice, word is that fires during practice are nowhere near as hot as the ones during a race :) Amazes me how many people still race without gloves.

September 15th 2007. No idea if this is the original or not.
