Re: Photos Wanted For Toyota Book

Re: The Kenny Smith Scrapbook

The collapsed wing on Kenny's F5000 at Pukekohe going into the first corner at Pukekohe yesterday brought back memories of the dark side of the 'good old days'. Thank goodness that with the likes of HANS and circuit upgrades, Kenny walked away.

I recall (if memory correct) Ian Easton doing demonstration laps at Manfeild in a sprintcar back in the day - it looked pretty wild, especially since it had to turn right as well as left.

Re: European Car Museums Of Interest

Steve - If you are going to be in Brussels - and have a pass out - you could check out Autoworld, which is only about 3km from the central square (Grand Place). They have a 70 years of Ferrari feature July/August.

Re: 1968 Lotus 56 Turbine Car

For the race, to differentiate it from the other cars, the team painted the sides of the nose yellow and the numbers became black-on-white (the other team cars were white-on-black)-the team even painted the sidewalls of the front tires yellow-

Re: RIP Chris Amon

Great article in Motor Sport covering the breadth of success Chris had - much of it too often overlooked in the "best driver not to win a F1 GP" story

Re: RIP Chris Amon

I neglected to mention in my earlier post... Chris took the fight to Frank Matich at those '68 Tasman meetings in Australia, their close encounters with Chris driving the Ferrari and Frank in the Repco-engined SR3 will live long in my memory! He was beaten each time, but nobody ever came so close ...

Looks like 4 stars on the forum index (4 golds / one grey) at the moment - while most threads go unrated I hadn't even noticed there was a rating function... #storm #teacup?

Re: Baypark ; lost tracks - Australian Muscle Car issue 83

I sometimes wonder, do people feel the same about the loss of Levin the way we feel about Baypark- your take Grimmie ? I can't speak for competitors John, but from a fan's perspective the loss of Levin was more than compensated for by the birth of Manfeild which, at the time, set a new standard on ...
