Historic Touring car grid was last minute

Just got back home(Sunday)I too had an interesting day as well, quite a few people asked where HMC and HSC were and in fact most thought we were supposed to be apart of the program and stunned to find us not there, I explained that after last years mismanagement, disorganization and been left out ...

Re: New Zealand Historic Saloon Cars Under HRC

Lots of escort had quite different suspension. When I applied for K many years ago I was asked for the homologation of the 4 link rear suspension, I couldn't find it . This was never homologated as the rules in period didn't require it. That is why you see many period original cars with quite ...

Re: Historic Sport Sedans

seaqnmac27- Very perceptive and totally correct. As an original Sports Sedan driver, and a racer since 1965, Graeme Park is racing this as an Invited Allcomer. Marina will be back at its sizzling best at Hampton Downs in January. When I enquired about running my escort as invited allcomer I was ...

Re: Historic Sport Sedans

MG Manfield meeting 11-13 November Graeme Park has booked some cabins at the Feilding Holiday Park. This is 3 kms from the Racetrack, and is for Friday and Saturday nights. Some extra accommodation is available at $40 per night -includes bedding and cutlery. If listening to bedtime stories from ...

Re: New Zealand Historic Saloon Cars Under HRC

I am really looking forward to getting this car going again. My enthusiasm about classic car racing has been rekindled with HMC and HSC. I lost interest a while ago when I had to run my correct car against cars with modern engines etc(which is why I built a hotrod). But having a place to play with ...

I am pretty sure Mike John owns this car. I remember a few years ago seeing the shell being rebuilt, then a while later it finished. I haven't seen it run though.

Re: Kerry Grant Lotus Cortina.

As far as I knew Kerry had a GT and a Lotus, pushrod engine was fitted to the lotus for some reason. My father owned the lotus till about 20 years ago.He sold it to guy in Auckland. It was restored by the previous owner. It had a-frame alloy panels etc and the twin can back in it.

That's me on the left as a young fella. My brother and father raced at this meeting and I helped them. I remember big crowds and really cool cars.

That is a cool bit of gear, I think the built in a shed in Coromandel all by Alex is not giving others with the credit they are due though. Yes Alex's vision and ideas and cash, but I have to say Dan Slater in Auckland built quite a bit of that car.

Re: Historic Sport Sedans

Habu, I think they are trying to accommodate old shell sport cars and replicas of them. I quite like Peter's car and it goes real good for a 1500cc car. I think john has done a good job to convince these old fellas to get their cars out. It was quite interesting spectating and it seemed the chatter ...

Re: Historic Sport Sedans

Ralph is an original Sports Sedan competitor, and also ran the car in OSCA, He put a heap into Sports Sedans and Osca, and also the cars raced back then in OSCA and are not new. Don't think it is 99 either as he ran it way before this. Please lets settle down before there is a break out from some ...

Re: Historic Sport Sedans

I appreciate your comments Paul, I guess for me it is just sour grapes not being able to run so close to the actual weekend. Yes as I always said gearbox is wrong, but is a gearbox more wrong than modern brakes or wrong engine. Looking at the list a few cars will fit that bill. I think John has done ...

Re: Historic Sport Sedans

I appreciate Ray's comments and his offer of running in his series at other events, many thanks. I have never made any secret about what my car is and what is in it or mislead what is in it(unlike some others). What I thought was that I had run in this class the last couple of years , no real ...

Re: Historic Sport Sedans

Just a quick note, Escort all going, but alas entry in to Sports Sedans and Allcomers was declined because of the gearbox. So although I think it would have fitted in OK, and runs nice with a few of the V8 cars I won't be running it. I appreciate John M's efforts but organisers say no. I am not sure ...

Re: Historic Sport Sedans

Hi Ray,
Escort doesn't run on slicks(it has done),I use Dot tyres. As for interior, it has door trims, hood lining, a proper dash, rear parcel tray, just doesn't have carpets and only one seat.

Re: Historic Sport Sedans

I would have liked to run my car in the Heritage touring cars, but gearbox is wrong. I bought a ZF for it on a punt from overseas before last festival. Cheap but condition commensurated the price. Gerry was happy for me to run there if I could change the gearbox. So given that I will have to run in ...

Re: Historic Sport Sedans

I was under the understanding that YB cylinder heads were not eligible for classic rallying overseas, that's why most escorts run BDG or the Connaught/warrior engine(which was deemed a continuation of old period cylinder head, and still available). YB was not in period. It's one of the things how ...
