Nice photos. Not buying the Imp as beautiful but, God, Pukekohe was a lovely place. Loved it as a spectator, a marshall and a competitor. What a fate, strangled by a bridge.
And if this post wandering about here on its own is confusing, I was intending to respond to kiwi285, hence the Puke reference.

Re: Photos: The Allan Cameron Collection - Part 2
I was a flag marshall in those days. Do remember drivers running B&H 500 cars in the support race, and also two Falcons in similar livery, one a GT in the support event and the other a weezy six pot complete with steel wheels in the main event. This was a way to spread prestige from two events ...

Re: Photos: The Bruce Wells Collection - Warwick Farm - Part 5
Phenomenal picture. Never mind the car's attitude, check the driver hanging out the window. As an old mini racer who got regular grief from my team for leaning about in the car, I feel happier now I can see even Brian Foley was a leaner. And just to be an old git, I wish you luck seeing such ...

Re: Article: Miss Victorious
Great story, beautifully written and coherent. Spent the '70s marshalling at Puke and that group of cars were always exciting, even when the fields were small. Nazer's ability behind the wheel and the great build of the car are shown by its success against real skill and poor old Greg Lancaster's ...

Re: The Bruce Wells Collection - Oran Park - Part 1
This is spectacular. All that elegant design and execution lavished on the rear and tin snips on the front. BMC donk, but from what? Like the Dauphine above it seems to retain the hilarious European wheels at the front. These little rear engined Europeans are so tempting to mess with, witness my ...

Re: Mystery sports car
My first Mini 7 (ex Gerald Fava) in the early Eighties had a reg plate bolted to the floor. The registration document had been hand altered over the years from Morris Mini 850 up to Cooper S 1000 when it had a brief life as NZ saloon champs entry. Each time I registered it the classification on the ...

Re: Formula Atlantic/Pacific
I marshalled throughout the 1970s and the big thing about Pacific when it arrived was the sheer speed of the top drivers. Rosberg was startling and so was Millen to my surprise. None of the F5000 brigade, in the best of those cars, seemed as gawd almighty crazy quick as the Pacifics. It might have ...
