Pete De lore owned a 20B Lotus, and was the brains behind the wings you see on the #68 and and in the top photo. He was a good friend to Bill McCabe from Geraldine, who owned my fathers Lotus, and he crashed it at Teretongamarkson wrote:Hi What part did Pete De Lore have with that car over the years.Markson

Re: South Island Single Seaters
Yep thats the car, and my dad Roger at the wheel, Michael, that would be about right, had a test day in late 2015 before leadfoot, also had a quick run at the MG Classic meeting at Manfield in Nov 2015

It is now restored and circulating and made its maiden appearance at Leadfoot last year. #68 is Pete De Lore who also built the rear wing and front winglets on the ...

Re: Puzzling Paint Predicament
Thanks Chris, The Jim palmer connection came from the shape of the rear cover. I spoke to him once and he told me how he modified the rear cover of his, and it was quite distinctive. Do you have any photos of the body from your Lotus? This body is quite puzzling as the rego sticker tells it was used ...

Re: Puzzling Paint Predicament
For what it is worth [which is probably nothing] but i was in the Fiberglass Industry for 20+ years and seem to remember several static childrens rides made in some race car forms.Maybe ...........maybe not. Thanks Ross, we thought about that, but the body had a NZ registration label on the body by ...

Re: Puzzling Paint Predicament
Thanks Stu. The body has a 1971 registration label, so was obviously used at some point in 1971. I was having thoughts that it may have been the body from Jim Palmers 22? The metallic gold colour didnt bear any race numbers though.

Re: Puzzling Paint Predicament
I think the Maroon with Gold metallic was on the car when McCabe ran it in events around Southland IIRC so the orange/yellow should have been either early in his/Westland Excavators ownership or prior to that. There is a B&W pic elsewhere on this site with McCabe & myself at tech check for a sprint ...

Puzzling Paint Predicament
Righto folks, I would love to see if any one remembers this car. We have restored a lotus 20/22 ex tony shaw, graham baker, Dave mitchell, bill McCabe. My father bought the car from Ian bisman in 1997. When he bought the car in bits it came with a spare body from a 22. So after we did the first body ...

Wanted 1967 XRGT Falcon
Hi Guys, I need a 3 core radiator for my 67 XR GT Falcon, 289ci V8, looking for as close to original as I can get, as the car is all original, and the one I had out while rebuilding the motor seems to have grown wings and flown out of the shed!! Don't want to have to resort to an aluminium one if I ...

Re: Bucklers!
Paulie, great to hear the car is getting a birthday. Will it stay like this or revert to a more period state? Hi OF. Despite looking quite modern, the buckler is still running all the old gear, drum brakes etc nothing too flash, hence the reason for the engine rebuild as the current driver tends to ...

Re: Bucklers!
A couple of photos of Dad in his buckler. Restored it in 1990 and raced it hard for the last 20 odd years. Just in the process of giving her a bit of a birthday. (and maybe setting up for a new driver???)

This man doesn't need a beer he needs a bottle of tequila through an IV line. I bet he was glad he wasn't wearing a period helmet though!!

Re: The Roaring Season Questionnaire: Please Read And Reply
I would pay. I like the idea of a motorsport focussed auction section as Russ suggested. As a 29 yr old I missed out on all the good stuff and trying to find good books etc, without having to spend hours trawling through trademe, would be bliss. Love the website and I think 45 bucks for all the ...

Re: Historic Karting
check out kart 115, some serious camber on that front wheel! Methinks wheel failure imminent! Looks a hell of a lot of fun, and could be quite cheap!
