Re: Allan Woolf - RIP.
I can vividly recall an occasion, don’t exactly remember where. Don’t remember when, however it was a long time ago. The NSSC committee members brought some American sailors from a visiting warship to a hillclimb as a goodwill venture. I was standing next to one at the start line. A Ford model “Y” to ...

Re: Allan Woolf - RIP.
Sadly I am unable to attend my dear friend Allan's funeral, as my wife Anne has suffered a sever stroke and is now in private care at Peacehaven Hospital, Blockhouse Bay and I need to be by her. Sincerely, Trevor.

Re: Ralph Watson Exhibit at Wanaka
The red paint is not "original". LOL I agree that sadly the car now carries a trademark of its new life. However I have not intended to express a personal point of view and am certain that I have correctly outlined the objectives and thought processes in the mind of my late dear friend and remain ...

Re: Ralph Watson Exhibit at Wanaka
It is a great pity that the unpainted alloy body of the Lycoming Special became polished. Sadly, the car has lost its original practical characteristics. As intended, the car should have a mat finish as do many aircraft. The intensly practical, late Ralph Watson would be horrified, particularly in ...

Re: Book, “ Ralph Watson Special Engineer ” again available.
Not to be outdone, the Historic Racing & Sports car club are collecting ten books. The club holds the Ralph Watson Memorial trophy which has not been competed for of late and their web site is rather in the doldrums all, of which is a pity. I have suggested that they participate here as a means of ...

Don Tilsley was one of the very first to build and drive, what was a very significant shoe string, home brew, Ford ten special. The car showed the way to factory MG TD and a Morgan sports cars, imported at a time when an import license decided the outcome of an event. He was a "special" builder and ...

I was talking to the guy wh owns and races in in chch at the weekend, he's had it 35 years. The red car was the latest imported and was displayed by the agents as quite special, having chrome wire wheels. It was purchased as a replacement for the car restored and raced by Steve and David Oxton ...

Ron Roycroft had a special interest in these cars and during a period late in their lives, he and close friend Herb Gilroy, carried out a quite extensive expedition, searching the back blocks for in particular, Cadillac service car remains. I am not sure as to what records they left behind, but I am ...

"Specials" by john Bolster, Second edition 1950, raised my enthusiasm towards building my first car. It includes some very hairy and interesting prewar cars. Does anyone else have a copy of this very interesting publication ?

Re: Book, “ Ralph Watson Special Engineer ” again available.
A reader of the book outside of motor racing circles, has pointed out that the Lycoming Special, deserves recognition equal with the "Fastest Indian", having appeared overseas at important events in Australia, the UK and the USA. I am very much inclined to agree with these sentiments. However the ...

Re: Motor Racing pics - my early years, 1964-71 ; Pukekohe Racetrack ;by - Roger Dowdingl
I am certain that the second photo showing car number 41 is wrongly captioned. I never ever raced my SP 250 as a sports car with the hard top in place and the wheel centers appear different from those on my car. Furthermore the driver is far too close to the steering wheel in contrast to the way I ...
