Re: Evan Noyes - Graeme Lawrence - Brabham BT29

The car was found in bits some years after Lawrence ownership and put back together by Tony Herbert. 1n 1986 David Sharp bought the car engaging Peter Bruin and Geoff Manning to meticulously restore it back its current condition. He put the car up for sale after stopping racing it in 1993. It sat ...

Re: Restoration Thread - The Standefer Datsun 1200

I've not had a chance to post anything on this thread for several months, but I made this short video a little while back. It provides details on the bodywork restoration. This I did this the car has spent about 2 months at the panel beaters, waiting in a queue to go on a chassis machine. [video ...

Good question Allan, I'm not sure. Its owned by the Rush family who have quite a large collection, so I just shot 4 cars moving quickly through each one.

Re: Evan Noyes - Graeme Lawrence - Brabham BT29

I noticed you hadn't been on here much Steve! Spending too much time on Facebook with stuff you don't put here :( How's the Datsun progressing? Actually don't spend much time on facebook either Rhys. I just put a couple of posts there a day. Its mostly been my book writing that has kept me away ...

Evan Noyes - Graeme Lawrence - Brabham BT29

I've not been on here much lately sorry. Just wanted to let ya'll know I recently started a Roaring Season YouTube channel. Its a low-buck set-up; just me and my smartphone, and a few basic gismo's. I'm featuring various historic cars and automobilia collections, and filming as I go. Here is a short ...

Re: The John Lacko Collection.

Brilliant photos Ken. Lothar was one of the great Can-Am privateers, and raced several McLarens throughout. He managed to get his hands on a couple of the factory team cars after McLaren was done with them, including a 1969 M8B, which he raced and crashed a couple of times in 1970. The Sam Posey ...

Re: Oulton Park and Kyalami.

Wow, what an amazing photo! I wonder what became of these cars. Some heavy metal at Kyalami in around 1970. Holden Monaro GTS accompanied by Sunbeam Tiger. 5 litres of GM power vs 4.5 litres of Ford power. On a cool down lap after a race with the marshals getting ready to sweep the track. [ATTACH ...

Re: Oulton Park and Kyalami.

This is such an epic collection Charles. I'm really enjoying it. The Roy Pierpoint Camaro was written off at this event and never raced again. It had been introduced partway through the 1969 season, replacing the teams Falcon Sprint, and leading up to this race at Oulton Park, had won the last two ...

Re: Restoration Thread - The Standefer Datsun 1200

This amazing collection arrived from Ron Leonard a few days ago, relating to the Datsun. Included are various photos of the car, stickers the same as those applied to the car in period, a Road Atlanta badge, and a t-shirt. The t-shirt is simply amazing. Just prior to the 1981 SCCA Runoffs at Road ...

Out of interest, were you born in England and moved to South Africa, or were you just spending time in England when you took these photos?

Re: The John Lacko Collection.

This is such a cool thread Ken, and I'm loving the amazing images and info for each. Keep 'em coming! Its interesting to see how many Chevrolet dealers during the 1960s ran multiple cars in a variety of competitions. Dana Chevrolet, as well as the McLaren, was also campaigning a Camaro in 1967 ...

Re: Restoration Thread - The Standefer Datsun 1200

When the little Datsun finally arrived at my house after months of waiting, I finally got to see it in the flesh for the first time, and was really happy with my purchase. The car is incredibly original. Although its been a race car for 45 years, its been changed very little to what Ron and David ...
