Re: Are apostrophes important?
As a self confessed nitpicker and compulsive corrector i try to suspend these tendency's when reading forum's like the roaring season. Not everyone has an eye for correct punctuation but some who dont still have good story's to tell and i wouldnt want to see them deterred by critical pedant's. Stalk ...

Re: HWM Sports
_MG_0226.JPG Photo:Wayne Collins Thanks Beowulf for that very helpful information. It adds more detail to the picture of the car's history. I didn't think to ask John Donnelly if he'd ever raced it with the Continental engine but the record of the March '64 Levin meeting shows that he did. The ...

Re: Trever Crowe's race Cars
trevor crowe MG J2 002.jpg Here's Trevor in the MG after it had morphed into the MGV. About the only MG parts left were the radiator shell and a couple of body panels. The custom-built chassis used flathead Ford V8 mechanicals. A simple but clever special in which Trevor was very successful ...

HWM at Levin.jpg I'm trying to trace the New Zealand history of the HWM Cadillac sports car that spent most of its life in NZ. Richard Wright kindly provided the above photo of it racing wheel-to-wheel with Beowulf. It was imported by the Avery brothers of Hamilton in 1956 who eventually replaced ...

Re: Trever Crowe's race Cars
trevor crowe MG J2.jpg Here's Trevor's first racer, an MG J2 with a Ford 10 engine, at Ruapuna. Trevor let me copy his photos for a magazine article about his MGV special which incorporated a few remnants of this J2, so I hope he won't mind me showing them here. Does anyone know who is driving the ...

Re: Lawrence Bruce
MGV at Tahuna.jpg I met Lawrence Bruce about five years ago when I was researching the article I wrote about Trevor Crowe's MGV. Lawrence had owned that car briefly and here's what I wrote about him and it: 'Lawrence Bruce then bought the car, painted red by then, and ran it at the Nelson beach ...

Re: Continental Special -- Gary Mullholland , Tyrrell Turtill
I saw the Continental Special doing standing 1/4 mile runs at Ruapuna around 1969-70. It was, at that time, able to remain stationary with the engine running but only just. I remember it tended to push the locked front wheels along while staging and with its single speed, torque converter ...
