Re: The Mc Begg

Without getting into a debate on the accuracy of 'Historic Racing Cars of New Zealand' Graham Vercoe laments the McBegg having being sacrificed to make an OSCA car. From memory Viva sounds right.... I'm getting older and memory's failing but the only Osca car I remember that was built using racing ...

Re: Where Are All The '70s And '80s Photos?

Har ha ha, Frosty5, good one, I like it!
Engines have pistons and run on petrol/methanol/lpg/etc, motors have armatures and run on electricity, eg 12 volts/240 volts/etc!

Re: Kaikoura Go-Kart track

Hi All, Just outside of Kaikoura there looks to be an abandoned race track. Just from the road it looks like a Go-Kart track. Does any one know any history of this track? As I used to race karts and would have loved to have a skid on it. It looks like some of the locals may use it now for a bit of ...

Am I to assume, Steve, that the championships Mustangs won in OSCA are too insignificent to be considered?

Ahah!

I did, I built the car literally from the ground up starting in 77 or whenever the MKIV Cortina was introduced. I borrowed the W/Shop manuals off Dennis Latty @ Latty Ford , Gore. & compared the floorpan info for MK3/MKIV, they are/were both the same, then obtained a MK3 shell & removed all that ...

Re: Western Springs Petition

Don't you just hate those yuppie pricks, buy a block next to a race track and then moan about the noise, same at Ruapuna. Council had to buy a lot of houses to keep the locals happy. And same for the Carrs Road kart track, out the back of Wigram, ChCh, they're relocating! Bloody ridiculous, they've ...

Re: New Zealand OSCA Database - Histories And Whereabouts

Rod Hayman has the ex John Fisher/Don Elvy/John Heslin car. Don't know who had it before John. Anyone? Evan, I'm surprised you don't remember the early history of that car, (but then again as you were so young at the time you probably weren't interested)! (So you're excused). The ex Fisher Capri ...

Ned Wilco was involved, as were - I think - both Collins brothers, Warner and Clyde. There was also Dennis Stanton, who - it can now be revealed - was the same as Ned Wilco... Yep, Ned Wilco was actually Denis Stanton, as you said, and I seem to remember his parents didn't want him to race cars and ...

Har ha ha, Jac, the only thing I remember about that car was that it didn't go very well, AND it didn't stop very ...

I presume you're talking about the Radisich allcomer? In 1964 Radisich raced a Mk2 Zephyr with an ex-Sprague engine. For the following season he dropped the engine into a Humber 80 - from memory the car was a Series I but I don't know whether it had been raced by an earlier owner with its original ...

Re: John Ohlsen - car builder. what happened to the two Katipo's ?

I believe the first car John was built using a Matich , chassis hense the driver sitting offset, and the second was scratch built with the help from Mark Petch (MJ Racing.) Would be neat to see them back on the track again. Robbie Booth owned one in 1975 and was then raced by Russell Greer I have ...
