Re: Vintage Kiwi Speed Equipment

PDL Racing had, I am told, 6 manifolds cast by Hamilton Jet to suit 4x Weber IDA carbs for the Ford 351C.
I am not sure if any were used?
A story I was told was that PDL were going to sell them to Falconer and Dunn, but they were rejected because they were too heavy!
Anybody know more about this?

Re: Kennet/Dunlop/Haig etc Mustang

You have your facts right camaroman. I last saw the '67 as a rolling shell after Rob Kennard had sold to a guy in Amberley, North Canterbury. From there is went to Palmerston North or thereabouts. It would be great to see more pictures from the Haig, Christy Morris, Bob Slade etc era. I remember it ...

The black Arbuckles car, that Lawerence Bruce raced in OSCA; I guess that had/has origins in the Castrol GTX series too?

Re: The Ford F3L

Have I understood it correctly; Was there a G7A in NZ?

The biggest problem I have always understood with the F3L was that the DFV was not suitable for endurance racing.
This was the story often quoted back in the day anyways....
But what an awesome looking car!

Interesting post Steve.

You can only take people as you find them and I have always found Allan to be helpful and willing to assist.
He calls a spade a spade (nothing wrong with that).

Re: OSCA 40th Reunion

Hey Nick,
Great pictures! Thanks for posting.
I remember you dads Mustang before Rob Kennard had it.
When your dad ran it, did it have a Boss 302 or the Gurney Weslake powering it?
It had so much history thru OSCA, that '67, and was a personal favorite of mine as a kid.
Neat stuff!!

Re: Formula 5000

Yes! He had the ex Kevin Haig etc '67 Mustang before Rob Kennard, running it in OSCA.
The last of Bob I remember hearing, he was building CART/IRL engines for Micheal Andretti years ago.

PDL Mustang 1

Just going through some of my PDL Mustang stuff, and came across a photo of PDL 1 and 2 together in their yellow/orange livery and it got me thinking..... What engine combo would PDL 1 have been running at this stage? Previously, in it's 'electric blue' guise it ran the injected 351C Gurney Weslake ...

Hey Paul it would be neat to hear more of the Weslake Chevy. I remember it being for sale...the engine...years ago. From memory it had been in a jet boat? It is still in NZ somewhere, I remember reading about it in the NZHRM a year or 2 ago. A grouse looking engine!!! Rodney

Re: Book Review Thread

Mark Donohue's "The Unfair Advantage" has got to be one of the most well written motor sport biographies I have read. You could get a real feel for what Mark was doing (or trying to do), with enough technical information to keep it interesting. Quite hard to find now, but well worth hunting down. An ...
