Re: XU1 Toranas the early seventies years
Photo was discussed elsewhere, I believe car owned by Allen Owers from Ashburton. Rod McElrea is listed in the Wigram programme Jan 1984 as number 777 ANZ Touring Cars. The Charger in the background is Jim Little's car

Pat and Trevor Crowe finished second at Puke in 1984, PM me if you would like to speak to Pat. I posted on South Island Motorsport fb page about that car recently Sorry ...

Re: benson and hedges vh commodore ss
Hi Graham, I understand Rod Collingwood ran that car in 1983 and then sold it to Patrick Monaghan in Southland, he and Trevor Crowe finished second in B&H 6 hour at Puke in 1984. I spoke to Pat Monaghan about his racing recently and I posted on South Island Motorsport facebook page. Very happy to ...

Re: Photo Request: Allan Moffat GT-HO Phase 3 In New Zealand In 1973
Yeah AMC mag said Moffat car was handicapped by the GTX rules, but I don't see it as a handicap if all the other cars have the same rules IMO its a level playing field

Re: Photo Request: Allan Moffat GT-HO Phase 3 In New Zealand In 1973
Can't help with images of Moffat but the way I understand it was that Ford wasn't happy with the Chargers domination in NZ so they sent their best car and driver to Wigram because there was some weird points system where if Leo didn't win Reg Cook would win the series in the BDA Escort. As it was a ...

Re: Photos: The Sprague Family Collection
I was going to ask if you went with the boys to Bathurst in 73 but I guess you were too young! That one is sunfire yellow colour, Leo's one in the earlier pic is mustard. Was there another E49 that Gary raced (apart from the Bathurst one) that was red/orange if so I'm wondering if the chap in Nelson ...

Re: Photos: The Sprague Family Collection
Sorry Grant, the E49 in the pic is the first one that Leo ran in NZ from Sept 72, rego GF2018 its the car that held the lap record for every track in NZ and as spinner32 said it has been with the current caretaker in Oamaru since the early 1980's The E49 which Leo & Gary shared at Bathurst 1973 was ...

Re: Rod Coppins
What's with the Hardie Ferodo 500 sticker - was this an ex-Bathurst car? And, if so, which one? No it never ran at Bathurst, It is the third of 3 E38s ordered by Todd Motors to run as "Todd Team" The first 2 E38s went to Leo Leonard and Graeme Lawrence, Rod's one was delayed at the factory and didn ...

The caption for that pic reads "Carburettor adjustments occupied Norm Beechey and helper before the Monaro's Pukekohe win" I don't know what Monaro he had at Puke in 1971? but I have only seen the one in Bowden collection (HT) with the Weber setup so I was surprised by this pic

Re: New Zealand OSCA Database - Histories And Whereabouts
Any photos from Wigram are great Lindsay!
Does John Osborne's RX7 still exist, I remember him having a big one at Puke and I can't remember seeing the car since. Was that the end of the car or did he rebuilt it? I can only remember him in the Breadvan after that

Re: Lost Race Cars
Sometime in the early 90's I rang a guy in the lower north island who had a Skyline Dr30 advertised, he told me the car had a white bootlid on it from the racecar that was written off. I might be wrong but I think he said it had "sleepyhead" on it
