Re: Hampton Downs sold to Tony Quinn

Surely his record at Highlands speaks for itself. There is no other facility in the country that offers the same experience or racing. If that's what we are going to see at Hampton, with the track extenstions completed and other spectator facilities in place, then I can only applaud it. Thanks too ...

Re: New Classic Bikes Book

Thanks to all the guys who have bought the book - it's going very well and the feedback has been excellent. Some buyers have come back and bought extra books to use as Christmas presents coz they were so impressed. It's just amazing to get feedback like that. Just thought I'd put this up as an ...

Re: New Zealand Historic Muscle Cars Under HRC

Correct Ray its certainly shaping up to be great one, almost scary!!! I really hope they get Spectator numbers because the turn out at the weekends "Thunder in the Park" and the recent "V8 Festival" was very poor(I thought) maybe they're saving up for this one? lets hope so!! Dale M You have to ask ...

Well, the contributions came from lengthy interviews with each person so I'll have to agree to differ. Tracking down Ivan Miller was a fine piece of sleuthing and it was such a pleasure to talk with him in detail - I still have a great photo I took of Ivan, nailing it on the RN400 at Helensville way ...

Re: New Classic Bikes Book

Wow. Not really my cup of tea but I have so much admiration the those guys who can imagine how a radically engineered bike is going to look, and then have the skills to create it. The same goes with cars. I love going to car shows and walking round the pits at race event just looking on in wonder ...

Brilliant stuff, Kiwi's have always punched above their weight in the international motor sports arena but to my thinking the 60's & 70's were probably the "golden time". (Its a curse to be so young , comparatively speaking - I'm 51). I would love to have been around the UK & Europe during that ...

Re: Who What and Where?

Shack Manon went in there in his mini - tripped right on the edge after a long slide and went in roof-first. Most impressive splash I have ever seen and it squashed the roof down to the bottom of the windows. Could have been very nasty because the creek was running high after days of rain and Shack ...

Re: New Zealand OSCA Database - Histories And Whereabouts

Those bars that look like rulers just under the main part of the dash were Rodger's 'telemetry'. They were connected by cable to the suspension on each wheel and he had a video camera mounted to film them. From that he made adjustments. As Tmann says, it was hi-tech for its day. Rodger was a very ...
