Re: Brian Crosbie MK1 Escort History

The three Twin Cams brought in for motorsport purposes were the Jim Carney car, The Ward / Simpson car, Tony Batchelor / Gary Sprague car.

I think that there was a 4th one brought in shortly after and it may have been for Ron Rutherford

Re: Taupo Motorsport Park

If the TCC has voted not to sell the track then they mustn't be under financial pressure to sell it? which is what i thought the situation was!! So why has all this come about???? was it just "someone" want to buy and the TCC needed a shareholders meeting as such to discuss?? Dale M Taupo ...

Re: Repowered Classics

Possibly the '70s John but who is counting. To be fair, my brother Donald started his FFord career with a bang, backwards through the "catch" fencing at Levin while attempting to overtake the field around the outside. My personal favourite early quote was Robin Curtis in MotorAction who described ...

Re: New Zealand ShellSport Saloon Series 1978 - 1985

Noddy fitted a Rocket box when he built up the Avenger, suspect that it still has the original box and internals as until now I can not recall it ever giving any issues, guess the used by date has finally arrived. Allan Farr's Escort likewise has a Rocket box and aside from the occasional ...

Some interesting reading in here if one wades through it all and places a timeline of other activities and developments alongside of it.

Re: Photos: 1985 Wellington Street Race Photos

Hi Steve, Just to correct one important fact in your overview of the first race. I knew that to win the race we had to leave Michele in the car and for once Robbie agreed with me Michele was a lot faster than Robbie, so we figured we would also save at least 20 seconds by having Michele Delcourt ...

History repeats eh Steve, The young ones starting out just like the previous generations, long may it continue for even in our family we now have the 4th generation starting out in motorsport via Autocross and Motokhanas too.

The back of the grid was when the car first appeared prior to the fitment of the torque converter tap arrangement. I do remember it doing rolling starts at Ruapuna way behind the field during the very early days of its life.

Re: Looking for a photo

Hi Rhys, I know exactly the one you are talking of. Think from memory Tom Clark is on pole with his Mk5 (or Mk7) Jag which was his tow car for his Ferrari. Allan Woolf is in there somewhere in a Ford 8. There is a big mural of this photo at the entrance to the Manawatu Car Club rooms at Manfeild ...

Re: Tulloch inks deal on rare Camaro GT3 racer

[color="#0000FF"]Was looking at manufacturers specs last nite for several different cars, they ranged from 102 to 114 dBA, but sup regs by meeting organisers in various countries contain a regulation where organisers can insist on a lower noise level...... not an easy task on that Camaro as its ...

Pity we don't have long distance races like we used too. Easiest way to get brakes to last Steve was not to use them until you have to........ Reverting to rallying, when I came back south and was running the Group One RX3 and Barry Robinson was running his Viva GT both had very small brakes that ...
