Re: Legends Of Motorsport TV Show - Pilot
It would have been nice to have seen more clips or action photographs during the interview with David Oxton, but it was still enjoyable. Thanks for your constructive Ray. Appreciate we are getting the initial programs up on an extremely small budget. We want to involve you all as historic ...

It would have been nice to have seen more clips or action photographs during the interview with David Oxton, but it was still enjoyable. It didn't come up on the MySky programme guide, even the day before showing, but thanks to an email from HRC and also JT, we had some notice of the broadcast time ...

Re: Legends Of Motorsport TV Show - Pilot
Hi Guys - Well after some issues, holdups, false alarms we knocked it off! The current series (weekly half hour shows) will feature an interview, a machine, and a historic racing news section. Sponsorship and advertising has got us out to February and we have seven interviews and four machines "in ...

Re: Old Race Tracks
Mt Maunganui hosted car and bike race meetings on Totara Street in the mid sixties immediately prior to Baypark being built in 1967/68. They were hugely well attended meetings and included several top motorcycle riders at the conclusion of the European GP season - 4 times World Champ Hugh Anderson ...

Re: New Zealand Historic Muscle Cars Under HRC
Great lineup Dale, guaranteed crowdpleaser of the weekend! Wouldn't it make sense to take it on for a third consecutive weekend at Taupo, including the Aussies. Two variations of Hampton Downs plus the Taupo track would be a great experience for our visitors and plenty of time to get the cars back ...

Re: "Secret" International Class at Hampton Downs and Taupo
Are you on the Hampton Downs and HRC mailing lists? Thanks for the background Ray. The answer is no. As a diehard HMC supporter I get good info from Dale and his guys. These guys really promote their class well as do others, eh? But when it comes to a potentially stand-filling class like pre-76 F1 ...

"Secret" International Class at Hampton Downs and Taupo
The thought of a bunch of Cosworth DFVs and the odd V12 mixing it with the rowdy F5000s gets my juices flowing but I can't find anything better than a sports cafe blog that dates back to June or a Taupo generated story that's low on specifics. At this rate I'll be making my plans to be elsewhere if ...

Nah mate,
Colin the photographer is quite a bit younger and less hairy - haven't seen the other one for a while! Colin has been avidly pushing motorsport and motoring with the BOPT for quite a few years and covers many motorsports on 4 wheels and 2.

A lot of similarities between Frank and Graham. Determined, creative, talented, turned out beautiful cars which they drove with enormous verve. Sad passing, thanks for the memories Frank.

Re: Missing Tasman Series Ferrari?
Terry, what I think is that it is 010 in F2 guise with 1.6 litre V6 and the earlier (F2) bodywork. Then again on the body issue, your magazine cover clearly shows Amon in the #4 246T at an Aussie circuit (Warwick Farm?) without the engine cover. Note however the profile of the rear of the bodywork ...

Re: Missing Tasman Series Ferrari?
I can't recall any Tasman 246T ever appearing with bodywork that didn't include upper engine cover. And for that matter the line of the bodywork at the rear doesn't look right at all. The bodywork shown here I can see appears in UK photos like Goodwood Festival. Maybe this has been rebuilt as a 166 ...

Re: June 2nd 1970.... Bruce McLaren
I remember stumbling around in the kitchen at my parents' place getting ready for school and being slammed by the radio news bulletin. It was as though I had lost a friend even though I had never met him and the connection was through motor racing magazines and waiting to hear the results of the ...

Re: Hampton Downs sold to Tony Quinn
Of course in the modern world public denials need to be treated cautiously. Where there's smoke there's fire is generally a good guideline. Given a figure ($13.5 Million) was mentioned it sounds like a deal has been agreed in principle with just a few details to be finalised. Tony and Chris have ...

Private buyout of the fallen into disrepair Lakeside in Queensland a few years ago seems to have been overall a positive for the facility from what I've heard - upgrades, improved relationships with territorial authorities etc. The ownership is held in common with the Queensland Raceway. Maybe some ...

Re: New Zealand's premier race series.
"Premiere" racing classes will never again live up to the description due to the increasingly professional and expensive nature of world motorsport IMHO. Toyota Racing Series is as good as it's likely to get even if I wouldn't bother flicking on the TV to watch it due to the lack of local ...

Nice one Dewi (and Awyn). You certainly covered the ground over the first 3 days and picke up some lovely angles and captured the spirit of ATA v HMC.
