Re: A few photo's taken by my dad at Baypark. What year would this have been ?

Cheers Steve, I know many of mine were of doubtful quality, but are appreciated .. Hi guys , here are the other photo's on the negs from Baypark. Seems like John Riley had "help" from Clyde Collins towards the fence. There's some single seaters and mini's from the same meeting and also some mini's ...

Re: A few photo's taken by my dad at Baypark. What year would this have been ?

There are some more Steve , but I think dad only had a fixed lens in those days so the racing is too far away to be any real use. These are the best , close up's I have. John Riley had help going through that fence ( and ironically hitting the Ford sign ) but the other photo's don't show it that well.

Re: The Story Of Tru-Jen and the Masport Cup

I was at Auckland library this morning and decided to do a bit of newspaper research into the death of Maurie Dunn. I found an article from the Auckland Star dated 29 May 1965 with a sub-heading stating : " An attempt on the Australasian water speed record ended in disaster at Bottletop Bay , near ...

Re: Farewell Ross

What a shame

One of the few kiwi's other than McLaren , Hulme, Amon, Ganley and McRae to have a go at , amongst other things Can-Am ( in a T70 Lola if I remember rightly ) although his story never really made the news unless he crashed
He hailed from Matamata didn't he ?

RIP Ross

Couch Escort Motogard 78.jpg I spotted this photo of Bob and John Couch's Escort taken at Mystery Creek in '78. Mike Marshall was driving the car for the Motogard event as Bob had been in the States and wasn't sure if he would have time to prepare for the rally when he returned ( although he did ...

BayPark Raceway 80's.jpg These two photo's from Google Earth show the transition of Bay Park to a housing estate. First photo taken in 2003 - sorry it's a bit fuzzy. Note the Rorison house is just foundations now but the red shed still stands behind it. I visited the site at this time and walked ...

Re: Mid- 80's Auckland based Rally / Hillclimb photo's

This genuine 1300 sport competed in a lot of local events in the 80's and always looked immaculate Note in the background another legendary local rally machine of the 80's - the well travelled Subaru Brat / Brumby Ute. This ute and the team Sumo Datsun 1200 Ute were very popular with the public Mk1 ...

Re: Baypark Raceway, 67 to 95, RIP

Seemed that every time we would go there the flooded subway under the track at the start/finish line would claim a few victims.... I recall the '78 International rally used the subway and track and the water was up to the headlights of the cars. Caused a lot of anxiety amongst drivers ! Spectators ...

Nice to see that , even in 1985 the old Anglia's were still being driven hard.
This one was at Cossey's Farm in 85

That's Gary Brunt in his Fiat Twincam powered Imp.
That photo is from about 1986 but he still owns the car today
