John Windelburn has sent me this copy of the fastest practice times for the Sports Sedans at the 1984 NZGP meeting.

I've added the entry list and results.

I've just noticed Kent Baigent is not on the entry list. He was in his Group A BMW 635 CSi

Here we have the Sports Sedans at another beautiful day atTaupo.
Good to see 2 well known Falcon Coupes in the line up.
Note...NO wild wings in evidence here
Kieran Willis on the front
Is that Veen Smith in his Commodore with John Popes red and white Coupes nose just showing?

Sorting through more of my stuff I found a press release from B & H about the 1988 International Series they were sponsoring. It included this page about the new Sports Sedan Championship. The five meetings referred to were Manfeild, Bay Park, Pukekohe, Wigram and Timaru.

This is the entry list for the race at Pukekohe in January 1988

The Sports sedan association, at time ran an overall championship and issued a trophy at the end of the year

Thanks you guys, thats great info. By chance would you have the placings for these championships?

The Quick Pics series was just for Bay Park events. They ran their own series for Sports Sedans and Production Supercars under various sponsorships for a number of years. A quick look at some programmes shows it was Air Pacific Sports Sedans and Radio BOP Production Supercars in 1980 and 1982. It looks like they lost Air Pacific in 1983 and then Quick Pics took over. Whenever they list the current points totals for those two classes it is always headed up as BAYPARK SERIES.

New Zealand Sports Sedan Championship

Does anyone know if there was a New Zealand or North Island Sports Sedan Championship prior to that which began in 1988 and was won by Rodger Freeth?

Sports Sedans were massively popular in the North Island throughout the 1980s, but was there an actual championship for them before 1988?
