I don't know if these incidents are related, but certainly, they took place in the same section of track. The #38 RSR is that of John Paul/Phil Currin, while #83 is Bill Scott/Joe Colontonio. Either way, nether car took any further part in the race.

The awesome Greg Pickett/Tom Gloy Chevy Monza. This is DeKon 1010, from DeKon Engineering.

This is Warren Agor's menacing Chevy Monza. Agor, like a small number of other competitors, chose to build their own IMSA/Trans-Am Monza's, rather than buy a DeKon model. Agor built and raced two Monza's, this being the second version.

Another of the Corvettes. This is a Greenwood built car, raced by William Coykendall/James Mancuso. It qualified 24th, and came home for a solid 19th place finish.

The Peterson/Hobbs BMW turbo takes the battle to the Follmer/Lunger Porsche. The Porsche was still there at the end, the BMW wasn't.

Some mid-pack American iron. Leading the charge here is the wild big block Camaro of Craig Carter/David Laughlin, which qualified 19th, but failed to finish. The Corvette is the Bob Baechle/Earl Hurlbut big block monster which also failed to finish after qualifying 29th. It'd be interesting to know what the history of the Camaro was. It looks like it could be an original Trans-Am car from 1970/71, heavily modified to keep pace with the new machinery appearing in IMSA and Trans-Am throughout the mid-1970s. Maybe one of our Trans-Am anoraks could shed some light on this?

Corvette versus Porsche. In fact, the Panzer was coming up to lap the American big-banger. The #76 Corvette is a John Greenwood built car, driven by Paul DePirro/Buzz Fyhrie, and Burt Greenwood. It qualified 15th but didn't reach the finish, and Greenwood didn't get a drive.

Something a little different! The Lancia Stratos of Brian Goellnicht/Anatoly Arutunoff didn't have a good race, qualifying back in 41st, and retiring early, to be classified 44th. But what a pretty car it was!

This is the Danny Ongais/Ted Fields Interscope Porsche 934/5, which had an excellent race, qualifying 8th, and finishing 5th. Interscope did a lot of racing in the 1970s, including Can-Am and F5000.

And a little way behind those guys is the Janet Guthrie/Randy Lewis Porsche 934, leading a crossed-up Stuck/Parsons BMW. This BMW, unlike the car pictured above, is normally aspirated.
