Saw this on Old New Zealand Motor Racing. Anyone know what happened to this Anglia that Robbie raced ?

That photo was taken by Peter Levet and posted by me. It would be good if people would credit the photographer when they use their shots.

Mr McRea was in a single car garage just around the corner in Stone St I believe it was.

Does anyone know if Alex Wilsons "Brutus"machine is still about?

Yes you are seeing it right, 105 front on a 100E rear and yes Chev powered..

Thanks Bruce,
I like the Brutus machine.... and of course the breadvan. reminds me of my old Anglia.
100e's were popular cars for engine transplants back then, rust was always an issue. But I haven't seen one with a 105e front end before, (If I am seeing it right) very cool.
The battery at the left of the driver probably doubled as a cut of switch using a loose positive lead.

I think Brutus is in Wellington but it maybe a replica of the car..unsure about that.
The other is the Fayhe Breadvan Anglia and is owned and raced currently by Craig Stacey.

Does anyone know if any of these cars are still around?

On reflection it may be a different Hawker. The first cortina I rode in was Neil's but was only 1500 at the time. Was a similar colour to my angria and had twin exhausts fitted with m/cycle megaphone mufflers. Will have a browse in the photo's to confirm.

Looks like Red Dawson behind John Riley. Does anyone know who anything about N Hawker from Wellington listed in a 1650 Cortina. Just wondering if it was Neil Hawker ho use to fit 350 Chevs in XJ6's and fitted a Lotus Twin Cam into a Mk 1 Escort.

Possibly Renwick. There were multiple signposts near the hairpin. Looks too rural to be anywhere else.

Interesting cars there ; The Allardette, was a Sydney Allard modified Anglia, and I see Colin Lumsden in " that De Soto Spl ", that had all sorts of modifications over several years,a big Car . a huge variation in capacity too !! 1350 cc to 5000 cc that was NZ saloon racing. The Jennings Spcl, was that a Fiat Topolino pre-war with a rather large 6 cylinder motor ??
Milan, once again your archives are amazing, thanks
